Full Review:
Targeted at youths, the Nokia 5510 has one of the oddest designs we've ever seen, but it's also a quite clever one. Seemingly built from a 3000 series phone which has had an external shell and audio features added, as well as its LCD display tilted 90 degrees, this phone is what Nokia hopes will help keep the company firmly lodged in the hearts of SMS enthusiasts in general and youths in particular.

The hardware

Its special form aside, the Nokia 5510 is very much like any other Nokia phone, and even though it comes with a handsfree set, this isn't necessary to use in order to place and receive calls. Just place the phone in an upright position with the speaker, which when seen horizontally is placed in the lower right corner, to your ear and you're all set to go since the microphone then will be on the bottom of the phone, along with the handsfree jack and the AC connector for recharging the phone.

The 5510 - equipped with an FM radio, audio player, and perhaps most importantly; a full QWERTY keyboard

There are also shortcut keys that allow you to control the volume of phone conversations, the radio and the audio player placed far up on the right side of the phone (when seen in an upright position), along with controls for controlling the radio and audio player functions. A bit further down, hidden beneath a plastic cover, there's a USB port for connecting the 5510 to a PC as well as an audio out jack for use with external systems - and finally the power on/off button is located on the top of the phone.

The phone comes with several cables, including one which connects the 5510 through standard connectors to a stereo system, one which transforms the audio output jack of the 5510 to one that is compatible with 3.5 mm jack headphones, and of course the USB cable that provides PC connectivity.

As far as for its looks, the oddly shaped 5510 will be available in two colors; Groovy red and Melody blue, and the entire thing measures in at 134 mm x 58 mm x 28 mm and weighs 155 g. Nokia lists it as having a standby time of up to 260 hours, and a talk time of up to 4 hours and 30 minutes.
