HP will soon release the HP Envy 17 and HP Envy 14 notebooks, featuring Intel processors and ATI Mobility discrete graphics. Check them out in our video report.
HP's latest and greatest notebooks in the new Envy series include the HP Envy 17 and HP Envy 14. The Envy notebooks aim to offer the ideal balance of design and technology by combining the latest in manufacturing with artistic expression and top-notch performance. The HP Envy 17 and 14 feature Intel processors and ATI Mobility Radeon discrete graphics for gaming, videos and 3D images. They come with a backlit keyboard, slot-loading optical drive, HP TrueVision HD webcam, a mini DisplayPort Connector and the latest in wireless and connectivity options. The notebooks also include Beats Audio, a technology developed by HP and Beats by Dr. Dre to provide an improved sound experience when playing music or audio through headphones or external speakers. HP Envy 17 Specifications
Powered by Windows 7, the HP Envy 17 can be configured with Intel Dual Core i5 or Quad Core i7 processors, up to dual 1TB HDDs or dual 160GB SSDs, as well as up to 8GB DDR3-1333 memory. Furthermore, buyers can choose between a 1080p or 900p HD screen with a diagonal size of 17.3".
The HP Envy 17 also sports a Blu-ray drive, ATI Mobility Radeon 5850 graphics card with 1GB GDDR5 RAM, Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n and an integrated Web camera. Additionally, the notebook offers the following ports: 2x USB 2.0 (1x shared eSATA), 1x USB 3.0, Ethernet, VGA, HDMI v1.3c, Mini-Display Port, 5-1 Digital Media Reader (SD, SDHC, MMC, MS, XD), Beats Headphone Jack as well as a Second Headphone + Microphone Combo Jack.
Boasting a HP Clickpad with multi-touch gestures enabled, the HP Envy 17 measures 16.38 by 10.83 by 1.24 inches and weighs in at 7.51 pounds. The notebook will ship with a 62Whr, 6 cell, Li-Ion cylindrical battery.
HP Envy 14 Specifications
Powered by Windows 7, the HP Envy 14 can be configured with Intel Dual Core i5, i3 or Quad Core i7 processors, up to 640GB HDD or 256GB SSD, as well as up to 8GB DDR3-1333 memory. Furthermore, the HP Envy 14 incorporates a 14.5" 900p screen (350nit brightness), DVD drive, Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n and an integrated Web camera. The HP Envy 14 also sports a Qualcomm Gobi chip, meaning that wireless broadband with GPS can be enabled when signing up for a wireless plan.
The HP Envy 14 is also powered by an ATI Mobility Radeon 5650 graphics card with 1GB DDR3 RAM. When configured with a Dual Core processor, power consumption can be reduced when switching to integrated graphics (Intel GMA HD). Additionally, the HP Envy 14 offers the following ports: 3x USB 2.0 (1x shared eSATA), Ethernet, HDMI v1.3c, Mini-Display Port, 2-1 Digital Media Reader (SD, MMC), Beats Headphone Jack and Second Headphone + Microphone Combo Jack.
The HP Envy 14 measures 14.01 by 9.33 by 1.09 inches and weighs in at 5.25 pounds. Like the Envy 17, it also features a HP Clickpad with multi-touch gestures enabled. Lastly, the notebook will ship with a 59Whr, 8 cell, Li-Ion polymer battery (promising up to 6 hours of battery life).
Price and release date
The HP Envy 17 is expected to be available in the United States on May 26 with a starting price of $1400. The HP Envy 14 is expected to be available in the United States on June 27 with a starting price of $1000.
