Chrome OS will be launched this fall, and Google's CEO, Eric Schmidt, says tablet partnerships will be announced soon.
During an interview with Reuters in Germany, Google's CEO, Eric Schmidt, said that Google will be ready to announce Chrome tablet partnerships soon. Chrome OS, which will be launched soon, will become the preferred "Google OS" for tablets and netbooks in the future, at least for the "with Google" kind of products.
Eric Schmidt also told Reuters that the company plans to expand in music, but wouldn't give any details as to what, where and how. He also declined to comment on any social networking plans.
Interestingly, Reuters also reports that Samsung considers adding Google TV functionality to Samsung HDTVs. Earlier this year, Sony announced that the company would work closely with Google on a number of products in the future, including Google TV powered HDTVs. A recent rumor also suggests that this cooperation will include a PlayStation Smartphone.
Anyway, Google TV is set to launch in the U.S. this fall, with worldwide availability to follow down the road. For more information about Google TV and launch partners, check out our in-depth story on the subject here.
