It turns out there's no Chrome OS tablet coming your way anytime soon, and netbooks remain the key target for now.
Engadget reports that there won't be released tablets powered by Chrome OS anytime soon. It turns out a recent report on such a tablet was based on a Chrome OS netbook to be released later this year. In other words, if Verizon and Google plan to release a Chrome OS device on Black Friday of this year, we should expect to see a netbook.
According to Engadget's source, Chrome OS tablets could be part of a future roadmap, though we shouldn't expect to see real products hit store shelves until late 2011 at the earliest.
Google is currently working with Motorola and Verizon Wireless on an upcoming Android Gingerbread tablet though. That tablet should be expected in early 2011. In short, we could be talking about a Droid X on steroids and optimized for a 10-inch screen. If you ask us, it could turn out to become quite an iPad competitor.
