The Samsung Haven is now available in Verizon Wireless stores, aimed at people looking for a straightforward cell phone.
The new Samsung Haven flip phone is now available in Verizon Wireless stores for $40 with a new two-year contract. If you're looking for a straightforward phone for calling and light messaging, the Samsung Haven offers one-touch access to speakerphone, voicemail, voice commands and emergency numbers. It also offers large keys for dialing.
Samsung Haven Lifestyle Features
The Samsung Haven gets a range of lifestyle features out-of-box, including a reminder alarm with up to five alarms, a fitness trainer that offers 15 stretching techniques, four different healing music selections to help relieve stress, and a medical information application that lets users make medical notes and stores their information such as allergies and medications.
The Samsung Haven also offers a calendar and scheduling assistant, calculator with currency converter, world clock and stop watch. Users can also program a dedicated ICE hardware button with up to three personalized contacts that first responders can easily find in the event of an emergency.
While the Samsung Haven sports a "My Pictures" button, the phone can only receive picture messages. There's no camera for you to take a few snapshots now and then. For a phone that offers lifestyle applications, a simple-to-use camera might have been a worthy addition, though we suspect the phone's storage capacity can just barely handle a rare incoming picture message. The Samsung Haven also skips an EV-DO connection.
That said, the Samsung Haven has received a top-notch M4/T4 rating for hearing aid compatibility, and sports a 2.2-inch internal screen with adjustable font size and up to six lines of text. Verizon Wireless claims a battery life of up to 5 hours and a standby time of up to two weeks.
