However, if you can't wait until August, or whenever the Motorola Droid 2 will hit store shelves, Android and Me comes to the rescue. The Android site has spent some quality time with the Motorola Droid 2 recently, and found a smartphone offering fast performance and a roomy QWERTY keyboard.
We highly recommend checking out their Motorola Droid 2 preview, including a hands-on video and benchmark results.
Given the Motorola Droid 2 will be released quite early when compared to the original Droid, this phone is more about competing with new high-end offerings in the marketplace than expecting you to move from the Droid to the Droid 2 this summer already.
The Motorola Droid 2 sports a 1GHz TI OMAP 3630 processor, a next-generation 45nm processor offering a blasting performance compared to the "old" 65nm processors. Furthermore, the 45nm processor is more power-efficient.
Motorola recently said that the company would offer a smartphone powered by a 2GHz processor down the road. If you ask us, that's probably going to be a dual 1GHz 45nm processor configuration.
Additionally, the Motorola Droid 2 will sport 512MB RAM for extra app storage. It's worth noting that as soon as the Droid 2 receives an upgrade to Android 2.2, users can store apps on microSD cards too.
