The LG Ally for Verizon Wireless is a budget-friendly QWERTY touch slider powered by Android 2.1. According to LG's Marc Andre LaBelle, the LG Ally is a type of phone the company hopes current enV Series users on Verizon Wireless will upgrade to. LG Ally Specifications
The LG Ally features a range of pre-loaded widgets, including LG Socialite (for Facebook, Twitter and MySpace updates), LG Weather + Time and LG Calendar. Powered by Android 2.1, the LG Ally also provides five customizable home screens to get quick access to these as well as downloadable widgets from Android Market. Additionally, the LG Ally provides a 3D App Launcher and Live Wallpapers.
The LG Ally supports the pinch-to-zoom multi-touch gesture, and has received a 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen with a WVGA resolution. It's also got a slide-out QWERTY keyboard with simultaneous touch screen capabilities, microSD card memory slot, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity.
LG's new consumer QWERTY phone also offers a 3.2-megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash. The camera also supports video recording at three different resolutions, with video recording time up to 16GB. The video quality can be optimized with normal, fine or super camcorders settings.
Additionally, the camera app provides Macro Mode for up close pictures, Panorama Mode for three guided sequential shots as well as Scene Mode for auto, portrait, landscape, sports and night settings. Smile detection is also part of the package. Camera settings also include custom brightness, white balance, shutter sounds, color effects and a self-timer.
Furthermore, the LG Ally provides S-GPS support for enhanced location accuracy, and like the Motorola Droid, it supports Google Maps for Navigation (free turn-by-turn navigation). The LG Ally also has a built-in MP3 and WMA music player with music library, repeat and shuffle features, as well as stereo sound via headset or Bluetooth. Lastly, the phone offers one-touch speaker phone and speaker-independent voice commands.
