The HTC Wildfire has now been made official through an early preview of the budget-friendly Android 2.1 smartphone.
HTC will today unveil the HTC Wildfire, a budget all-touch smartphone powered by Android 2.1 and the QVGA version of HTC Sense. The HTC Wildfire succeeds the HTC Tattoo, featuring a 3.2-inch capacitive QVGA display, 5-megapixel camera with auto focus and LED flash, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g, microSD memory slot and a 3.5mm audio jack. Check out more HTC Wildfire specifications.
HTC Wildfire will be budget-friendly
The HTC Wildfire will be available in Europe and Asia soon, and according to Know Your Mobile, the new budget smartphone will offer the ability to share a list of your downloaded applications with friends. A built-in App sharing application provides a list of installed applications, which can then be shared via Twitter, Facebook, e-mail or text messaging.
When we played with the HTC Tattoo last year, we found the QVGA version of HTC Sense to work excellent. Like recently seen on smartphones such as the Droid Incredible, the HTC Sense experience on the HTC Wildfire will also include the Friend Stream, animated wallpapers and Exchange ActiveSync.
To keep the price as low as possible (the HTC Tattoo may have been a little too expensive for its intended audience), the HTC Wildfire gets the same 528MHz Qualcomm processor as found in last year's HTC Hero. There's also 384MB RAM for app storage.
If you don't need 3D gaming capabilities, aren't going to download a bunch of large apps, and won't use the Web browser extensively, the HTC Wildfire will most definitely be a phone to consider this summer, along with Sony Ericsson's new X10 Mini.
