Vodafone Germany has already rolled out a software upgrade that is supposed to improve the BlackBerry Storm performance, and Verizon Wireless has confirmed that there's a firmware upgrade coming to the U.S. version soon. It's now available here.
That said, last week we reviewed an all-touch phone that took up to 8 seconds and more to switch from portrait to landscape mode. People who refer to the BlackBerry Storm as the worst thing they've seen, has simply not seen much of the mobile world.
For those who wonder what the key differences between the BlackBerry Storm and iPhone 3G are right now: If you care about calling and messaging on an all-touch phone, we doubt you'll find anything better than the BlackBerry Storm. If you care more about browsing and third-party applications, we doubt you'll find an all-touch phone that can match the iPhone 3G. If you are a heavy texter, however, neither should be on your wish list this holiday.
