Alltel keeps announcing interesting phones for rural areas, and next week Alltel customers will get the Samsung Delve all-touch phone.
Alltel and Samsung announced today that the new Samsung Delve will be available for pre-sale on October 30. The touchscreen phone, highlighted by a virtual QWERTY keyboard and tactile feedback, has been designed with Samsung's TouchWiz interface.
The TouchWiz interface incorporates specially designed widgets that allow the user to customize and personalize their phone. Users can drag and drop widgets onto the main screen, which offers users instant access to their favorite functions. The widgets allow users to customize the main display screen to match the icons of the applications and features they use the most. Check out the TouchWiz interface in action here.
The Samsung Delve features a 3-inch touchscreen with a resolution of 240 x 400 pixels, a 2-megapixel camera with video recording capabilities, as well as an MP3 player, microSD memory slot supporting up to 8GB cards and a 3.5mm headset jack. It also offers Stereo Bluetooth and EV-DO connectivity. The Samsung Delve measures 3.89 by 1.93 by 0.55 inches, weighs in at 3.35 ounces and is claimed to offer a talk time of up to 5.5 hours. Other functionality includes a GPS radio (Alltel Navigation will be included) and a full HTML browser.
Furthermore, the Samsung Delve will ship with accessories such as an additional battery, a stylus, soft protective case, travel charger, stereo headset and PC data cable. Additionally, the Samsung Delve will offer Alltel's nuTsie application, which allows users to stream their own iTunes playlists, their friends' iTunes playlists and new music from the nuTsie catalog.
The Samsung Delve will be available on November 6, selling for $300 with a two-year contract. A $100 mail-in rebate is available when signing up for a qualifying plan.
