For the first time in history, there are three different BlackBerry smartphones on our list. RIM is on fire, if you had any doubts. We also take a look at what's caused it.
Dealing with bleeding edge technology leads to two things: Hot phones and trouble. Historically, the hottest phones have usually gotten into some kind of trouble, whether it being Symbian, Windows Mobile or now the iPhone platform. In the same period, RIM has been playing it safe, releasing grey models relying heavily on server-side solutions, but no more. The BlackBerry Pearl Flip, BlackBerry Storm and the BlackBerry Bold are all representing something new and interesting. That said, the BlackBerry Bold has faced delays because of its 3G chip, but most of the competitors took the painful step up many years ago, so it was about time RIM followed suit.
