Best smartphones of CTIABy Sindre Lia, 17 September 2008
Check out the best smartphones that were on display at the show floor of CTIA. Plus: See the hot new music player in the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1.

We had hoped to see the HTC Dream in action at the show floor of CTIA, but now it has turned out that the special moment will finally take place next Tuesday (September 23). Soon, we'll also finally get to see the BlackBerry Storm / Thunder. Last fall, the LG Voyager made a huge splash in the market, and we expect the BlackBerry Storm / Thunder to be yet another great addition to Verizon Wireless' lineup.

The most surprising smartphone that was actually on display at CTIA, was the new BlackBerry Pearl Flip for T-Mobile. BlackBerry smartphones are usually announced at RIM events, but not this time around. We also got the chance to play with the HTC Touch Pro and HTC Touch Diamond, and we should have an in-depth review of the latter up soon.

Although we didn't get any new footage of the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1, we did gain some new insight to its environment. Most notably, it'll offer a dedicated music player created by Sony Ericsson (see screenshot below). There'll also be made an announcement later this year with regards to the U.S. availability of the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 - so don't buy this one unlocked as soon as it hits the streets in Europe on September 30.
