The Toshiba REGZA Cinema XV545 and Toshiba REGZA RV535 LCD HDTVs will hit store shelves this month; upconverting standard definition and 720p HD signals to full HD.
Toshiba today unveiled its Super Resolution Technology (SRT), which upconverts standard definition content to feel like HD. Toshiba also launched a load of new LCD TVs, including the REGZA Cinema XV545 series.
Toshiba is re-launching its Cinema Series with the Toshiba REGZA Cinema XV545 series of 8ms LCD TVs, consisting of 42- ($1800), 46- ($2300) and 52-inch ($2800) LCD TVs to be released this month. The lineup includes Toshiba's SRT technology (upconverts and enhances 480i/p and 720p input signals), the AutoView feature for enhanced image quality, as well as a new Double Skin Cabinetry. With double skin, the cabinet's outer skin is translucent, allowing you to see through to a second interior skin with texture behind it - aiming to create a luxurious look.
Other features include ClearFrame 120 Hz technology and a Film Stabilization mode, promising picture with smoother motion. Additionally, this series sports 14-bit digital video processing with 10-bit LCD panels for 16,384 levels of gradation and Toshiba's ColorBurst wide color gamut. Lastly, the Toshiba REGZA Cinema XV545 series offers four HDMI inputs with REGZA LINK (HDMI-CEC) and SoundStrip speaker technology.
The Toshiba REGZA RV535 series (gallery), available in 42- ($1400), 46- ($1800) and 52-inch ($2300) 8ms LCD TVs, is slightly cheaper and less capable than the new Cinema series. The key differences are LCD panels with 4,096 levels of gradation and the lack of 120 Hz and ColorBurst technology. The Toshiba REGZA RV535 series is scheduled to be released this month.
