Offering a range of features for snow and water sports enthusiasts, the Sanyo Xacti E2 doubles as a MPEG-4 AVC camcorder and an 8-megapixel still camera.
Sanyo today introduced its second-generation waterproof camcorder to the U.S. market. The Sanyo Xacti E2 records MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 video and 8-megapixel stills under water to a depth of five feet for up to one hour at a time. Designed to operate with only one hand, the Sanyo Xacti E2 is aimed for users with an active lifestyle, including snow and water sports enthusiasts.
The Sanyo Xacti E2 includes enhancements such as 60 fps video recording (in TV-HR mode), 5 frames per second still image shooting (at 2 Megapixels) and Face Chaser technology for clearer shots of subjects. A total of 8 hours of video or up to 2000 8-megapixel still images can be recorded on a single 8GB SDHC memory card.
Other features include a 2.5-inch LCD display that flips out and rotates, CMOS image sensor, 5x optical zoom, improved underwater scene mode promising improved color reproduction, as well as a "Quick stand-by" mode. The latter is claimed to let users to start recording or playback immediately after the monitor is flipped open.
Measuring 2.8 by 4.4 by 1.6 inches and weighing 9.1 ounces, the Sanyo Xacti E2 is available now in brilliant blue or pearlescent white for $400. Adobe Premiere Elements 4.0 for movie editing and original DVD authoring is included in the sales package.
