The new Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T500 offers a 3.5-inch touchscreen and HD movie recording in a compact body.
Sony today announced the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T500, a 10-megapixel camera featuring wide and full-screen 720p movie recording at 30 frames per second. The movie function is based on the MPEG4 AVC/H.264 codec for video compression and stereo audio. Movie capture is further enhanced to include zoom while in recording mode and high-sensitivity shooting for natural- or low-light environments.
The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T500 can continuously record a video clip up to 10 minutes in length, and can hold hours of clips by expanding the camera's capacity with Memory Stick cards up to 16GB. It also features a dual photo and video capture mode, which can capture up to three photos without interrupting the recording.
The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T500 integrates a 3.5-inch touchscreen, and offers a Carl Zeiss 5x optical zoom lens with a 33-165mm equivalent focal length. Furthermore, the camera incorporates Optical Steady Shot image stabilization and high sensitivity settings up to ISO 3200. Face detection technology has also been included, detecting up to eight faces in the camera frame and adjusts focus, exposure and flash.
The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T500 will ship in black with a brushed metal finish in late September 2008 for approximately $400.
