Casio introduces the new 10-megapixel Casio Exilim EX-Z300 and 9-megapixel Casio Exilim EX-Z250 wide-angle compact cameras, as well as the stylish Casio Exilim EX-Z85.
 Casio today announced the release of three new additions to its Exilim family of digital cameras. The 10-megapixel Casio Exilim EX-Z300 and the 9-megapixel Casio Exilim EX-Z250 both feature a new Casio image engine for improved image processing. The 9-megapixel Casio Exilim EX-Z85 camera features a stylish design.
Casio's new Exilim Engine 3.0 is an imaging processing module that packages a new, dedicated high speed image processing CPU with the high performance CPU used to date. Thanks to the new engine, Casio promises improved image quality with less noise and moiré. The Casio Exilim EX-Z300 and the Casio Exilim EX-Z250 is also claimed to handle night scenes and other difficult scenarios better.
The Casio Exilim EX-Z300 offers a 1/2.3-inch CCD sensor, 4x optical zoom on a wide-angle lens (28-112mm equivalent), a shutter speed of 4 to 1/2000 second and sensor-shift image stabilization. The Casio Exilim EX-Z250 offers the same features, except for sporting a 1/2.5-inch CCD sensor. Compare full specifications here (includes a comparison to the EX-Z100 and EX-Z200).
The Casio Exilim EX-Z300 and the Casio Exilim EX-Z250 will be available in October 2008, selling for $300 and $250, respectively.
The stylish Casio Exilim EX-Z85 comes with a face recognition function that can detect up to ten faces. It also features an easy mode that has been pared down to just three items -- flash, self timer and image size -- in order to provide a point-and-shoot experience for beginners. The Casio Exilim EX-Z85 features a 1/2.5-inch CCD sensor as well as 3x optical zoom on a standard lens (38-114mm equivalent).
