Sprint's multimedia phones for the masses have been lagging behind lately. Today, the carrier released the Motorola RAZR VE20 and the Sanyo Katana Eclipse to meet the competition.
Sprint today released the new Motorola RAZR VE20 and the Sanyo Katana Eclipse multimedia phones. When compared to last year's Motorola V9m, the Motorola RAZR VE20 has received a few improvements such as a screen with increased color support and a 256MB microSD card bundle. The microSD slot now also supports 8GB cards.
The Motorola RAZR VE20 is also lighter in weight, though slightly thicker than the V9m. The most pleasing difference, however, is the price tag. The Motorola RAZR VE20 will cost $150 with a two-year contract, and a $50 mail-in rebate is available when signing up for a qualifying plan.
Just like the Motorola RAZR VE20, the new Sanyo Katana Eclipse is a clamshell phone. Despite also sharing the same price tag, the Sanyo Katana Eclipse offers somewhat weaker specifications at first sight though. More specifically, a 2-inch 65K screen vs. a 2.2-inch 262K screen, 1.3 MP camera vs. 2 MP camera, and the Sanyo Katana Eclipse is slightly thicker. On the other hand, the Sanyo Katana Eclipse promises a half hour more battery life and will also let you write messages with T9 text input, so it pretty much evens out.
