The Swedish manufacturer returns to its roots by introducing the Sony Ericsson T700, the successor of the popular T610.
Sony Ericsson today announced the slim and elegant Sony Ericsson T700 building on the heritage of the T610 launched back in 2003. At just 10mm thin, the Sony Ericsson T700 mass market phone features a 3.2-megapixel camera, stereo speakers, 2-inch display and a 512MB memory card out-of-box.
Despite its lack of Walkman branding, the Sony Ericsson T700 should handle music playback fairly well, and also come with Bluetooth Stereo (A2DP) support and a color matched headset. Furthermore, the Sony Ericsson T700 offers the Access NetFront web browser, Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync support, geo tagging of photos and Google Maps.
Though featuring a 3.2-megapixel camera, we don't expect to see great shots coming out of the Sony Ericsson T700. Unlike the photos produced by the Cyber-shot phones, Sony Ericsson's mass market phones tend to come up with photos that are mainly useful for inclusion in MMS messages. The Sony Ericsson T700 also lacks advanced camera functionality such as auto focus and Xenon flash, and sticks to offering a basic photo light and a self-portrait mirror.
The Sony Ericsson T700 supports GSM/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 MHz networks and European HSDPA 2100 MHz networks. Sony Ericsson claims a talk time of 4.5 hours when connected to the latter.
The Sony Ericsson T700 will be available in selected markets from early Q4 2008 in the colors Black on Silver, Black on Red and Shining Silver. Check out its full specifications here.
