The new 10-megapixel Fujifilm Finepix Z200fd, dubbed "glam-cam", is aimed at style-conscious partygoers.
Fujifilm today introduced a new model in its ultra-compact, fashionista Z-series lineup - the Fujifilm Finepix Z200fd. Humorously dubbed a "glam-cam", it will be available in Black, Pink, Red and Silver colors, and aimed at style-conscious partygoers.
The 10-megapixel Fujifilm Finepix Z200fd is not as thin as Casio's Exilim Card cameras, but sports a Fujinon 5x optical zoom lens, a 2.7" LCD screen and sensitivity settings up to ISO 1600. New features include a Couple Timer Mode (detects two faces in a frame) and a Group Timer Mode (detects up to four faces).
The Fujifilm Finepix Z200fd also offers a mechanically stabilized CCD combined with high ISO sensitivities, dual shot mode (rapidly takes one picture with flash and one without) and a Blog mode. The latter mode automatically resizes any image captured to 640x480 pixels or 320x240 pixels. An Auction Mode is also available, which aims to make it easier to shoot images suitable for eBay auctions.
Furthermore, a movie mode shoots VGA quality movie clips at 30 frames per second with sound. The Fujifilm Finepix Z200fd also comes with a photo folder management feature, which lets users organize photos on the camera.
The Fujifilm Finepix Z200fd uses i-Flash Intelligent Flash, claiming to detect subtle lighting differences within a scene, and then varies the flash intensity accordingly. It also leverages the high sensitivity capabilities to use less flash, in an effort to prevent that "blasted with light" effect.
The most unusual feature found on the Fujifilm Finepix Z200fd is its Infrared Port, which along with a SD/SDHC/xD memory slot takes care of transfer and storage. An USB cable will also be bundled with the camera.
The Fujifilm Finepix Z200fd will be available in September 2008 at a retail price of $300.
