Lenovo's IdeaPad line for consumers will get four new laptops based on Intel Centrino 2 technology this fall. Check out our hands-on photos.
Lenovo recently released four new notebooks for consumers, the Lenovo IdeaPad U330, IdeaPad Y430, IdeaPad Y530 and IdeaPad Y730. New features include expanded facial recognition for log-on, One-Key Rescue System to recover data, HDMI outputs and optional Blu-ray players on select models. The announcement brings two new notebook form factors to Lenovo's IdeaPad line - the 13-inch widescreen Lenovo IdeaPad U330 and the 14-inch widescreen Lenovo IdeaPad Y430. All four notebooks are based on the latest Intel Centrino 2 processor technology.
Lenovo designed its U series with style in mind, and the new Lenovo IdeaPad U330 will be joining the Lenovo IdeaPad U110 thin-and-light notebook that was released this spring. To be available in glossy Indigo blue and Bold black, the Lenovo IdeaPad U330 starts at 0.9 inches thin and weighs just over four pounds. Equipped with the latest version of VeriFace facial recognition technology, users can now access encrypted files and record a 30-second video message for other users. Designed with Dolby Home Theatre and touch-sensitive multimedia controls, the notebook comes equipped with HDMI and an optional built-in DVD burner.
The Lenovo IdeaPad U330 notebook also includes switchable graphics. This enables the user to run energy efficient integrated graphics while on battery power and then switch to discrete graphics for more powerful performance when plugged in. The Lenovo IdeaPad U330 also includes an LED backlit display, up to five hours of battery life (according to Lenovo) and Lenovo's Active Protection System (to prevent hard drive failure if the notebook should fall). The aforementioned One-Key Rescue system is also available, if the operating system should crash. Check out our hands-on gallery of the Lenovo IdeaPad U330.
The new Lenovo IdeaPad Y730 is an enhancement of the IdeaPad Y710. Models with the Game Zone function will come in Valencia orange, distinguishing them from the mainstream models in Indigo blue. Equipped with the design and functionality shared throughout the IdeaPad line, the Lenovo IdeaPad Y730 sports a frameless screen, touch sensitive multimedia controls, Dolby Home Theatre, One-Key Rescue system, VeriFace, support for HDMI and an optional Blu-ray player. The Lenovo IdeaPad Y730 can also be configured with up to two 320GB hard drives. Check out our hands-on gallery of the Lenovo IdeaPad Y730.
The new Lenovo IdeaPad Y430 and Y530 15.4-inch notebooks joins the IdeaPad Y510, and will be available in Bold black or a Crimson red textured design. Additionally, they can be configured with a framed or frameless screen as well as an optional Blu-ray player. Check out our hands-on gallery of the Lenovo IdeaPad Y530.
Prices and final configurations will be released when the notebooks goes on sale in the fall of 2008.
