The new Samsung TL34HD compact camera builds upon the popular NV24HD, featuring 720p HD recording and a 3-inch touchscreen. The Samsung SL310W, TL9 and SL201 were also announced.

Samsung today unveiled its 2008 second-half digital camera line-up with the launch of four new models - the Samsung TL34HD, TL9, SL310W and SL201 (compare all four models).

The Samsung SL34HD boasts a 14.7-megapixel sensor and a Schneider lens yielding a 28mm wide-angle focal length with 3.6x optical zoom. The most advanced point-and-shoot digital camera in the Korean manufacturer's history, the Samsung TL34HD builds upon the NV24HD, with the ability to capture high-definition video at a resolution of 720p along with Dual Image Stabilization (Optical + Digital). It also incorporates a high-performance DRIM Engine image processor.

Featuring an all-metal build, the TL34HD is pocket-sized with dimensions of 3.68 by 2.34 by 0.80 inches. Although compact, a large three-inch touch-screen half VGA LCD dominates the back of the camera. The Samsung TL34HD also offer Samsung's next generation Smart Touch 2.0 interface, which aims to simplify the way users navigate through the camera's feature set. By incorporating touch-screen technology, users can select and control various camera functions by interacting with the Samsung TL34HD's touch-screen.

The Samsung TL34HD offers camera features such as face, smile and blink detection. The latter is claimed to prevent photos from being snapped when someone's eyes are blinking.

The Samsung TL34HD will be available in September 2008 at an MSRP of $330.

The Samsung SL310W (gallery) sports a 13.6-megapixel sensor, a 28mm wide-angle lens with 3.6x optical zoom, dual image stabilization and a 2.7-inch LCD screen. Camera features include 11 scene modes, auto red-eye fix, as well as face, smile and blink detection. The Samsung SL310W will be available in September 2008 for $230.

The Samsung TL9 (gallery) is an ultra compact 10-megapixel camera, featuring MP3 and PMP capabilities. The media player supports MP3 and WAV for audio playback and a range of video codecs for movie playback; joined by a headphone port and an integrated speaker. Measuring 3.74 by 2.36 by 0.84 inches, the Samsung TL9 provides a 2.7-inch LCD screen, 5x optical zoom and dual image stabilization for those who are interested in actually taking pictures with this camera. The Samsung TL9 will be available in September 2008 for $280.

The Samsung SL201 (gallery) is described as an ultra-slim point-and-shoot with a 10-megapixel sensor, 3x optical zoom lens and a 2.7-inch LCD screen. Featuring Face Detection, Self Portrait, and Digital Image Stabilization, the Samsung SL201 is something as rare as a low-end 10-megapixel camera. The Samsung SL201 will be available in September 2008 for $170.
