The new Sony Vaio Z notebook for road warriors can be configured with Sprint Mobile Broadband and a 128GB solid state drive.
Sony today took the wraps off a new line of sleek notebooks, the Sony Vaio Z series. Weighing just over 3 pounds, the Sony Vaio Z model incorporates a 13.1-inch widescreen display. Select models feature a 1600 x 900 resolution, aiming to increase the workspace compared to a standard display within the same "footprint".
The Sony Vaio Z is housed in a carbon-fiber casing to help endure the knocks, bumps and accidents common to frequent travel. It also incorporates G-Sensor Shock Protection technology to counteract sudden movements helping to prevent damage and data loss.
Road warriors will have the options of adding built-in Sprint Mobile Broadband, and the Sony Vaio Z also incorporates Wi-Fi 802.11n and Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity. The premium model (full specs) also come with a Blu-ray drive, and for those who fancy SSD storage solutions, the Sony Vaio Z can be had with a 128 GB solid state drive. For improved performance on-the-go, the Sony Vaio Z is powered by new Intel Centrino 2 technology.
The Sony Vaio Z will start at about $1800, while the SSD model will go for around $2300.
