Toshiba expands its Satellite family with a range of new pre-configured models, as well as upgrading technology for user-configurable models.
Toshiba today announced the latest iteration of its Satellite laptops, with enhanced capabilities for the Satellite P300, Satellite A300, Satellite M300 and Satellite U400 series.
The most notable new feature for gadget fans is Toshiba's new sleep-and-charge USB ports, supporting USB charging of gadgets whether the laptop is powered-on, off or in hibernation. Satellite laptops have now also received a built-in FM tuner, while select configurations now also offer a eSATA/USB combo port for a faster connection to external hard drives.
Each Satellite laptop now also comes equipped with Toshiba Face Recognition software, a feature that lets users use the integrated web camera for access verification. Additionally, each new Satellite delivers a set of Harman Kardon stereo speakers. Select configurations are now also supporting Toshiba's REGZA LINK (HDMI-CEC) technology, enabling users to control multiple devices with a single remote control.
Toshiba today also announced support for the 64-bit version of Windows Vista, which takes advantage of a full 4GB of memory in certain conditions. Lastly, The Toshiba Satellite P300D, A300D, M300D, U400D, L300D and L350D series of laptops should now offer variations of AMD's Athlon Dual Core QL, Turion Dual Core RM and Turion Ultra ZM processor technology.
