The brand new Toshiba Qosmio G55, Qosmio X305 and Qosmio F55 notebooks sport the latest and greatest in notebook technology.
Toshiba today announced the expansion of its flagship Qosmio brand with three brand new laptops, the Toshiba Qosmio G55, Qosmio X305 and Qosmio F55. These new laptops are specifically designed for users who enjoy gaming, multimedia and advanced mobility technology (compare specifications).
The Toshiba Qosmio G55 (gallery) is the world's first laptop to incorporate a parallel media co-processor, which is based on the Cell processor technology co-developed by Toshiba, Sony and IBM. This technology is best known for its use within the Sony PlayStation 3 and various supercomputers. Banded as the Toshiba Quad Core HD processor, users are provided with enough power to control and create personal movie projects.
Additionally, the Qosmio G55 sports NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT discrete graphics, 512MB video memory, up to 500GB of hard drive storage space, and is the first laptop from Toshiba to include a 18.4-inch widescreen TruBrite high-definition display sporting a true 16:9 aspect ratio.
The idea behind the Toshiba Qosmio G55 is that as HD camcorders become more affordable, people will learn that video editing is a time-intensive process. With the new Quad Core HD processor, Toshiba aims to reduce this process significantly for video enthusiasts.
The Toshiba Qosmio X305 (gallery) is a powerful gaming rig that's built around a 17.1-inch widescreen TruBrite high-definition display. Select Qosmio X305 configurations take advantage of Intel Core 2 Extreme processors, the latest NVIDIA GeForce 9800M GTX GPU, up to 1GB of video memory, dual hard drives with up to 400GB of collective storage space, as well as DDR3 RAM. The Toshiba Qosmio X305 also comes with a red-flamed Rogue design topped off with Toshiba's Fusion finish. Click here to compare the Toshiba Qosmio X305 to competing models.
The Toshiba Qosmio F55 (gallery) with its 15.4-inch widescreen TruBrite high-definition display is a gaming machine that also takes mobility seriously. Sporting gaming grade NVIDIA GeForce 9700M GTS discrete graphics with 512MB video memory, users are promised a new gaming experience compared to earlier 15.4-inch notebooks from Toshiba. The Toshiba Qosmio F55 also sports a built-in GPS receiver and Garmin mapping software. Click here to compare the Toshiba Qosmio F55 to competing models.
The new Qosmio family also incorporates REGZA Link HDMI technology, which for instance enable Toshiba laptops and HDTVs to be controlled with a single remote. The Toshiba Qosmio X305, Qosmio G55 and Qosmio F55 also feature Feathertouch multimedia buttons, a flush-mounted Touchpad, a high-speed eSATA port and Harman Kardon high-fidelity bass reflex speakers with a built-in sub-woofer.
Each new Qosmio model will be available in mid July 2008 from a variety of major consumer electronics and computer stores nationwide or available directly from Toshiba's online store.
