Harman Kardon's new AVR 354 and AVR 254 receivers feature the latest and greatest in audio and video processing.
Harman Kardon announced today the introduction of its 7.1-channel AVR 354 and AVR 254 A/V receivers. The company is also introducing its 5.1-channel AVR 154 A/V receiver, as well as HK 3490 and HK 3390 stereo receivers.
The Harman Kardon AVR 354 features 7 x 75W 7.1-channel outputs (8 ohms) and offers HDMI 1.3a connectivity, Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio decoding, and a new graphical on-screen menu system. The AV receiver also features 1080p video upscaling, Deep Color support, EzSet/EQ automated system calibration, as well as multi-room operation. The Harman Kardon AVR 354 will be available soon for $900, including a new iPod/iPhone docking station (see last paragraph) in the sales package.
The Harman Kardon AVR 254 is the most affordable Harman Kardon receiver to feature both Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio decoding on the audio side, and video processing and upscaling to 1080p on the video side. Offering 7 x 50W 7.1-channel outputs (8 ohms) and HDMI 1.3a Deep Color, the Harman Kardon AVR 254 will be available soon for $650. Skipping the latest and greatest, the Harman Kardon AVR 154 will have a suggested retail price of $400.
The HK 3490 2 x 120W receiver is aimed at audiophiles, featuring high-performance phono preamp, preout/main-in jacks, high-current amplification, as well as digital-audio inputs, video switching, dual subwoofer outputs and Dolby Virtual Speaker technology. The HK 3490 should be available now for $500. The HK 3390 2 x 80W receiver is also available now, having a suggested retail price of $400.
Harman Kardon also announced today the introduction of The Bridge II docking station for iPod and iPhone models. The Bridge II connects to the Harman Kardon DMC 1000 digital media center, the new AVR 354 A/V receiver and the HK 3490 stereo receiver (as well as other Bridge-ready receivers). It enables control of your iPod for music, and when used with the AVR 354 you can also take advantage of image and video playback support. The Bridge II will be available in early summer 2008 for a suggested retail price of $130.
