Samsung L870 S60 smartphone slider announcedBy Sindre Lia, Wednesday 28 May 2008
Samsung today announced the new Samsung L870, a S60 smartphone slider to be launched in Europe in August.

Samsung today introduced the Samsung L870 (see specifications), a S60 smartphone with a slider form factor. With a stainless steel body fully packed with the Symbian 9.3 OS and S60 3.2 platform, the Samsung L870 aims to provide a stylish productivity tool. The Samsung L870 measures 103.5 by 50.5 by 13.5 mm, and sports a minimalistic keypad designed to provide enough space between each key to provide improved convenience.

The Samsung L870 also offers pre-installed applications such as a Web-kit based S60 browser, Quickoffice document viewer, PIM homescreen, Team manager and a business card recognition function.

Furthermore, the Samsung L870 boasts a new user interface featuring three different themes, 2.4-inch QVGA TFT display, a 3-megapixel camera, FM radio with RDS, Bluetooth 2.0, microSD (4GB) slot and a multimedia player. The latter supports MP3, AAC, AAC+, RA, AMR, WMA file formats for audio, and H.263 + AMR, MPEG4, Real One and WMV file formats for video.

The Samsung L870 operates on GSM/EDGE 900/1800/1900 MHz and HSDPA 2100 MHz networks in Europe, and will first be launched in Europe in August. Other regions where GSM is available will get the Samsung L870 later on.
