Verizon Wireless and Motorola today announced the Motorola W755, a 0.68-inch thick clamshell phone for average Joe. The Motorola W755 (see specifications) offers access to Verizon Wireless' V Cast Music service with external touch-sensitive controls to allow users to search for song tracks by artist, album, track title and genre. These external controls also let users activate Stereo Bluetooth and adjust ring volume or mute calls without opening the phone.
The Motorola W755's music player supports AAC, AMR NB, MIDI, MP3 and WMA V9 file formats, and playlists can be created and managed with Windows Media Player 11. Other features include a 2.5mm headset jack and a microSD memory slot with support for up to 4GB cards.
The Motorola W755 also sports a 1.3-megapixel camera with 4x digital zoom, VZ Navigator for GPS navigation, instant messaging and a 1.9-inch internal display. Measuring 3.9 by 1.9 by 0.68 inches and weighing 3.6 ounces, the Motorola W755 is claimed to offer a talk time of up to 3.5 hours.
The Motorola W755 is available in black and purple color options from Verizon Wireless for $120 with a two-year service agreement. A $50 mail-in rebate is available when signing up for a qualifying plan.
