Does Verizon Wireless offer phones that are fun to play with?By Sindre Lia, 27 May 2008
Several of our readers wonder whether Verizon Wireless offers or plans to offer any phones that are fun to play with.

Since Verizon Wireless is in a very early stage of recognizing key multimedia smartphone features like customization, third-party services and an above-average browsing experience, the carrier is sadly offering very few phones that are considered to be fun to play with.

For the time being, Verizon Wireless is pretty much stuck with the BlackBerry Curve as far as multimedia smartphones are concerned, though a decent one at that. The carrier recently confirmed that they'll exclusively offer the upcoming BlackBerry Thunder, which could become the second multimedia smartphone on Verizon Wireless. There's also the BlackBerry Bold, though it could take months before it appears on Verizon Wireless. But other than that, there aren't any other currently known multimedia smartphones for Verizon Wireless looming on the horizon.

In the multimedia feature phone category, the LG Voyager boasts a range of improved proprietary Verizon Wireless features, which makes it a decent choice for those looking for a fun phone to play with. However, if instant messaging, MediaFLO TV streaming and a decent camera isn't the kind of fun you are looking for, the LG Voyager may not be worth buying. There are no scheduled firmware/software releases of significance for this cell phone, and it's most likely too early to expect a Voyager 2 coming out in the next few months ahead.

The Samsung Glyde is another decent multimedia feature phone on Verizon Wireless, featuring one of the best web browsers to date on a Verizon Wireless phone. It's also got VZ Navigator 4 and a great GPS radio for some impressive GPS navigation. It's simply a decent Verizon Wireless phone at $200 that may be fun to play with for some. In combination with SanDisk's recently introduced 8GB premium microSD card ($120), it could possibly also offer great storage capacity that better match the Apple iPhone and Nokia N95 8GB NAM.
