Best smartphones for business usersBy Sindre Lia, 30 April 2008
Is a BlackBerry smartphone the best there is? Why does Motorola hold a "25% stake" in a list for the best smartphones? Get all the answers here.

Among all the current business smartphones out there, it may not be an easy task finding an exact match for your needs. Below is a selection of eight different devices, which we think pretty much covers the whole spectra in the business smartphone segment.

In the front seat, we've placed HTC's Mogul and Tilt on Sprint and AT&T's networks, respectively, because they simply handle advanced tasks better than any other offering. The last smartphone from HTC on the list, the Verizon Wireless XV6800, offers a great mix between calling, messaging and connectivity.

Motorola has two smartphones on the list, which have performed very well in our extensive testing of calling and messaging performance. Had Motorola spent some serious resources on developing smartphones for a change, who knows what they could have accomplished in this market?

Samsung's BlackJack II on the other hand, is a typical all-around smartphone, offering average performance across the board. If you aren't looking for anything particular in a smartphone -- you just want to have one -- the $100 BlackJack II will probably not disappoint.

Though placed at the bottom of this list, the BlackBerry 8820 is simply the best smartphone out there when it comes to calling and messaging. The problem with BlackBerrys though, is that RIM's pricing model is best suited for those looking into buying 10,000 units at a time. At $50 or $100, these smartphones had deserved a category of their own, but at $350 per unit, it's just too difficult to put them anywhere but at the bottom of a list of this kind.
