Pioneer's three new in-car multimedia systems combine entertainment features with Tele Atlas GPS navigation.
The Pioneer AVIC-F90BT, AVIC-F900BT and AVIC-F700BT all combine entertainment capabilities with navigation features, displayed on a 5.8-inch WVGA touch screen. The recently unveiled on-dash AVIC-F500BT navigator joins the same family of devices.
The new AVIC-F systems offer Apple iPod connectivity, Bluetooth, HD radio, XM and Sirius Satellite radio and playback through USB and SD memory cards. Each unit is also equipped with Pioneer's Supertuner IIID AM/FM tuner, 50 Watts X 4 high power amplifier and a mini-jack A/V input. Additionally, the F90BT model incorporates three sets of RCA outputs.
Furthermore, the F90BT and F900BT are equipped with CD/CD-R/RW/DVD/DVD-R/RW video playback, capable of reading MP3, WMA, iTunes AAC, Wave, DivX and MPEG4 files. The F700BT offer CD/CD-R/RW playback only.
All three systems offer voice recognition for cell phone dialing via Bluetooth, and when a contact has more than one number, the system will respond with available options prior to making the call. iPods can also be controlled via voice recognition, where users can request music based on artist name, album name, playlist name and music genre.
As for GPS navigation, the included map database from Tele Atlas covers United States, Canada, Alaska and Hawaii, and provides approximately 12 million points of interest (POI). A user's own POI can be added through an SD memory card. The F90BT model will also show specific landsmarks using 3D icons, while MSN Direct (subscription) is supported by the F90BT and F900BT.
The Pioneer AVIC-F700BT, AVIC-F900BT and Premier AVIC-F90BT will be available in June 2008 for a suggested price of $850, $1,100 and $1,200 respectively. The Pioneer AVIC-F navigation systems can be fully integrated into nearly any car with a double DIN dash opening.
