Alltel gets the BlackBerry Curve, complementing the carrier availability for RIM's popular business/multimedia smartphone breed.
Alltel today announced that the BlackBerry Curve 8330 will be available in Alltel retail stores May 1. Starting today, the Curve is available for pre-order online. The Curve will support Alltel's high-speed EV-DO network, and supports GPS capabilities such as Alltel Navigation.
The Curve is a breed of business and multimedia functionality, offering RIM's e-mail services as well as boasting a 3.5mm stereo headset jack and Stereo Bluetooth capabilities. Users can also stay connected with friends by downloading the Facebook for BlackBerry application.
The Curve also sports a 2-megapixel camera, QWERTY thumbboard and a microSD/SDHC memory slot. Alltel also promises hi-speed USB connectivity, for rapid transfer of for instance music files to be played on the Curve's music player.
Alltel Wireless will offer the BlackBerry Curve for $230 after a $100 mail-in rebate. This discounted price is available to new customers who sign up for a two-year service agreement and to existing eligible customers on qualifying rate plans.
