We would probably be more excited about this phone if it wasn't an Alltel exclusive. Unfortunately, the plucky little carrier doesn't cover our testing grounds in the Northeast, but that doesn't make us curious about this LG Shine with a touchscreen. The interface is similar to what LG has done on the AT&T Vu, which is a good thing, because it features loads of colorful icons and an easy to navigate tabbed browsing system. Like the Shine, the Glimmer also had a good weight in the hand. It may strike some as heavy, but with all that brushed metal on board, it felt sturdy and authentic. In addition to the snazzy interface and cool body, the phone features a 2-megapixel camera and runs on Alltel's EV-DO network. We won't be reviewing it on Alltel's network, but we're still interested seeing the regional carrier pick up an enviable exclusive. Release: March 2008. Price: $150.
Pros: Cool design, nice looking touch-based interface. 2-megapixel camera. Stereo Bluetooth.
Cons: Won't work in New York, Boston or Baltimore, among other cities. Heavy due to metal used in shell.
