The Nokia N78 candy bar phone closely resembles its slide-out sibling, the N96, in more ways than one. The phone has a great feature set, including Wi-Fi, GPS and a 3.2-megapixel camera. We also liked the touch area around the five-way button that let us scroll by circling with our finger. We especially like that Nokia has made use of this circular action, creating media menus and photo browsing that responds well to the motion. We're not in love with the design, but it's hard to deny the phone's multimedia chops, and it's powerful enough to keep up with the new Nokia Maps 2.0 app as well. Release: May 2008. Price: $500.
Pros: Touch sensitive area is nicely implemented in the S60 interface. Rich feature set.
Cons: Kind of ugly looking. Keypad is a bit thin.
