Sony Ericsson's new EC400g express card modem seems like an obvious idea that nobody thought of until now: incorporate GPS into a cell phone modem. The card also boasts super-fast networking speeds on HSPA networks, with downloads approaching theoretical speeds of 7.2Mbps and uploads managing 2Mbps. This is faster than anything in the U.S., but even without the fastest networking, we'd want one for the integrated Google Maps and navigation support on our laptops. A great idea, and we're sure to see plenty of competitors once word gets around. Release: July 2008.
Pros: GPS and HSPA, two great tastes that go great together. Fastest networking available.
Cons: Express card only. Too fast for American networks (maybe that's a positive?).
