Toshiba's new Penryn-based configurations are now available for the X205 gaming and U305 thin-and-light notebooks.
Toshiba today announced the latest enhancements to the company's gaming and thin-and-light notebook series - the Satellite X205 and Satellite U305 - featuring Intel's new Penryn 45nm processor, the Core 2 Duo T8100.
The X205 has also recently received an overhaul in the graphics department, now featuring NVIDIA SLI technology, which enables two or more graphics cards to work in tandem to boost the overall rendering prowess of the system.
The upgraded Satellite X205-SLI notebook features dual NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT graphics processing units (GPUs). The notebook also incorporates a 320GB hard disk drive, HD DVD drive supporting 720p playback on the notebook's 17-inch widescreen, and a built-in HDMI port at 1080i for watching HD DVD movies in full HD on an external HDTV. With a starting price of $1350, the Satellite U305-S2816 offers 2GB of RAM, a 250GB hard disk drive, a weight of 4.6 pounds and features a 13.3-inch widescreen TruBrite display. The notebook also sports 802.11a/g/n Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth 2.0 and an embedded web camera. A review of a previous U305 configuration can be found here.
