Panasonic's stylish FS20 and FS5 10.1-megapixel models and easy-to-operate LZ10 and LZ8 models are introduced with wide-angle lenses.
Panasonic's new 10.1-megapixel FS20 and FS5 models both feature a 30mm wide-angle Leica DC lens with 4x optical zoom. The FS models, a stylish sister-line of the Lumix FX-series, combine an intelligent auto mode with a slim and sleek look. In addition, the cameras offer optical image stabilization, intelligent ISO, intelligent scene selector, face detection for up to fifteen faces and a quick auto focus system. Other features include the Venus Engine IV for image processing, approximately 50MB of internal memory, and a 3-inch LCD screen for the FS20 and a 2.5-inch LCD screen for the FS5.
The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS20 (image gallery) will retail for $300, while the DMC-FS5 (image gallery) will retail for $250. Both models will be available in February 2008.
The new LZ10 and LZ8 models feature two key enhancements from last year's LZ7: Leica DC VARIO-ELMAR lenses and wide-angle shooting - 30mm on the LZ10 and 32mm on the LZ8. Each camera also boasts manual control, a 5x optical zoom intelligent auto mode and the Venus Engine IV image processing engine.
Also new to the LZ-series is advanced scene mode, a feature that gives users manual control for some of the frequently-used scene modes: Portrait, Sports, Landscape and Night portrait. When shooting manually, users can also choose from three aperture and speed modes: A-aperture priority, S-shutter speed priority and M-manual.
The 10.1-megapixel LZ10 and the 8.1-megapixel LZ8 both feature intelligent auto mode, consisting of optical image stabilization, intelligent ISO, intelligent scene selector, face detection of up to fifteen faces and quick autofocus. Both cameras can also record WVGA video at 30 frames per second in a widescreen aspect ratio.
The Panasonic DMC-LZ10 (image gallery) and the DMC-LZ8 (image gallery) will be available in black and silver models in February, for a suggested retail price of $250 and $180, respectively.
