Hands-on with LG's new ultra-slim 42-inch LG75, LG60 HDTVsBy Staff, 24 January 2008
LG's new ultraslim HDTVs offer some interesting features, including a contrast ratio of 1,000,000 to 1.

LG LG75 Gallery »
LG LG75 If the holy grail of HDTV is the color black, HDTV fans will be interested in the LED-backlit LG75. Boasting an unbelievable contrast ratio of 1,000,000 to 1, the LG75 should offer very crisp color details. Beyond helping the picture quality, we've always heard backlit LED is a good environmental choice, so we're all for it. In our brief time in front of the backlit LG75 at CES, we were quite impressed by the richness of color, especially in shadows. Better blacks tend to reveal more details, and the LG75 showed more nooks and crannies in mountain snowscapes than we were used to seeing back home. Release: June 2008.
Pros: LED backlight. Incredibly high contrast ratio for rich color.
Cons: Going to be pricey, that's for sure.

LG 42LG60 The LG60 isn't the most high-end television, but it does offer a few of today's features that mark it as a top-shelf device. First, the LG60 gets 1080p support for full-resolution HD viewing. Second, LG has added 120Hz scanning for smooth picture viewing. The television's design isn't exactly unique, except for the strange hole near the logo beneath the screen, but it fits in with the glossy black motif most HDTVs are taking on. Release: June 2008. Price: $2000.
Pros: 120Hz and 1080p mark this as a high-end LCD display.
Cons: Too loud at CES to really test invisible speaker features and picture quality.
