 HP in partnership with MTV recently concluded a global art contest ("Take Action. Make Art.") for a limited edition run of notebooks, and the winning bids are the kind of colorful, fluorescent verve sorely lacking in the conservative world of notebooks. The first-place entry, "Asian Odyssey" from 20-year-old Joao Oliveira of Portugal, which merges traditional Asian imagery like a dragon and a Yin and Yang with modernist lines and shapes, was chosen from over 8,500 submissions from over 112 countries. The five different skinned notebooks are expected to be available sometime this spring and will be a welcome relief from the unimaginative black and gray notebooks we normally see.
