Cameras pack 7x, 5x zoom lenses into sub 1-inch packages, include compatibility with both xD and miniSD cards.
Olympus added three new models to their Stylus series, highlighted by the 10-megapixel Stylus 1010 and Stylus 1020, which stuff a 7x optical zoom into a package less than 1 inch thick. Rounding out the update is the 8-megapixel Stylus 840 and its 5x zoom.
The new models are available in a variety of colors; the Stylus 1020 will come in blue, pink, black and silver, the 1010 in silver, black, blue and purple and the 840 in silver, black, blue and pink. All three new Stylus models feature illuminated button icons, something we liked on the Stylus 1200 and hope to continue to see on future Olympus models.
One of the more interesting features of the new Stylus models is the memory card adapter, which enables microSD memory cards to be used when capturing images (in addition to the Olympus-standard xD cards). The battery has also seen a 25 percent boost to 925-mAh.
The Stylus 840 will be available in January 2008 for $250 and the Stylus 1010 and Stylus 1020 will be available in March 2008 for $300 and $350, respectively.
