Sony Ericsson today announced the W760, the first truly global Walkman phone with tri-band HSDPA and Quad-band EDGE, enabling downloads of the latest music and content at higher speeds. The phone also delivers built-in GPS with Wayfinder Navigator and Google Maps for step-by-step directions.
The phone can store up to 950 tracks on the bundled 1GB Memory Stick card, and uses SenseMe to pick the music and tracks that match ones mood. A Shake Control function enables quick navigation in playlists, as well as when skipping through tracks or adjusting the volume.
Somewhat geared towards gaming, the phone also comes preloaded with Need for Speed ProStreet, which can be played in landscape mode. With sound from stereo speakers and use of dedicated gaming buttons, Sony Ericsson promises a better gaming experience than what we've seen on previous Sony Ericsson phones.
The phone sports a 2.2-inch screen as well as Motion Sensor Gaming, which allows users to control the game by using the motion of the phone. A 3.2-megapixel camera has also been built in to the phone, which is activated by sliding it open.
The W760 operates on UMTS/HSDPA 850/1900/2100 and GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/900 MHz networks, which means AT&T Wireless. There's a good chance that AT&T will pick up the phone later this year, but should regardless be available as an unlocked phone in Q2 2008.
Sony Ericsson today also introduced the Z555 stylish clamshell phone and the ultra-slim W350 music phone. The mid-range Z555 will be available as an unlocked phone in Q1 2008, and will work on AT&T's wireless network. The mid-range W350 will ship with a 512MB Memory Stick card in Q2 2008, and this phone will also operate on AT&T's wireless network.
