Using Pulse-LINK's new CWave UWB chipset, the LCD TV will be able to display HD content from sources at 40 feet, wirelessly.
Westinghouse and Pulse-LINK today announced the world's first fully integrated wireless HDTV. The LCD TV features Pulse-LINK's CWave UWB Wireless HDMI technology, which wirelessly streams visually lossless video and audio content in real-time between sources and displays.
Westinghouse's new LCD can be mounted anywhere in the room without running cables from the TV to content sources like a DVR, Blu-ray or HD DVD player, live cable or satellite feed. Video data is encoded using the JPEG2000 video codec, which is also used by movie theaters for digital cinema playback.
The Pulse-LINK's CWave UWB chipset's wireless range provides speeds surpassing 500 Mbps at 8 feet and more than 115 Mbps up to 40 feet.
Westinghouse plans for their Digital Wireless HDMI HDTV to see commercial release to the B2B digital signage market in the second quarter of 2008.
Philip Berne, Matthew Ruiz, Edward Distel and Sindre Lia contribute to the CES 2008 coverage.
