Motorola is set to introduce their paperback-sized device with 4.3-inch screen for live TV viewing at CES.
Motorola has announced the introduction of their DVBH-compatible DH01 device and mobile TV broadcast solutions portfolio. The pocket-sized PMP lets the user watch live TV, on demand clips and programs saved on a DVR anywhere and anytime.
The non-proprietary DH01 supports the DVBH broadcasting standard, is smaller than a paperback book and has a 4.3-inch 16 million color WQVGA screen and a five-minute memory buffer allowing pausing during live TV viewing. TV is recorded on SD/MMC card, about 90 minutes of TV fit on a 256MB card. Channels are scanned and listed automatically, and the video is played back at 25 fps for up to four hours on the included rechargeable battery.
Motorola's “standards-based mobile TV solution” encompasses the network infrastructure (DVBH transmission network equipment, video headend center equipment, interactive application services delivery platform), services (to design, deploy and optimize the network in addition to application services); and the devices themselves.
The DHO1 will be showcased at Motorola’s booth at the international CES in Las Vegas next week.
