The enigmatic Mysto will be available after Christmas in New York and Los Angeles Helio stores.
Helio today released their new slider, the Mysto, but if we didn’t know any better we’d think they don’t want you to know. Helio is releasing the Mysto in the “Korean American market” under the “Helio powered by SK Telecom” brand. Helio says there will be no formal release to the “general market” just yet.
Samsung is manufacturing the Mysto, which is scheduled for a general market release sometime in January 2008. While the hardware and software versions are in their final release, not all the planned applications will be available, including the new Tellme application. Helio is also releasing an interesting location-based client as well as a youtube uploader. Helio expects any applications unavailable today to be available for download by January 8.
The Mysto will be available for purchase at the Helio NYC and Helio Santa Monica stores starting Dec. 26 for $150. Oddly enough, there will be no demo units or boxes out on the floor; those in the know will have to ask staff for one from “behind the counter.” Helio expects the limited initial production run to fulfill demand on the initial launch day, but after the stock runs out, consumers will have to wait until the general release.
