Kenwood makes mobile DTV a reality in North America with MPHBy Matthew Ruiz, Tuesday 11 December 2007
Mobile DTV receiver to allow digital broadcasts at highway speeds, first working models to be displayed at CES.

Kenwood has become the first major manufacturer of automotive electronics to develop a mobile DTV receiver for over-the-air broadcasts in North America, creating prototype terrestrial DTV receivers based on the MPH in-band mobile DTV system, developed by Harris Corporation, LG and LG's U.S. R&D subsidiary, Zenith.

Kenwood says MPH is capable of providing terrestrial DTV signals to mobile, pedestrian and handheld devices. For consumers, MPH enables users to view their favorite broadcast TV programs, movies and sports, as well as local news and weather information.

When ATSC digital television becomes the only game in town after February 2009, MPH will offer a mobile alternative, allowing DTV reception performance in cars, even at high speeds.

The prototype in-car Kenwood MPH receivers will be demonstrated publicly for the first time at the 2008 International CES in January.
