Packing a 10,000:1 contrast ratio and more HDMI ports than you can shake a stick at, Sharp's newest LCD takes aim at gamers.
Sharp today announced their new widescreen 32-inch (LC-32GP3U) 1080p AQUOS LCD TV, designed specifically for gamers. They claim their newest GP3U model handles the highest frame rates of even the most challenging video games.
The monitor comes in three colors, black, dark wine red and white. The new gaming series has a significantly smaller footprint and a swivel stand for flexibility. With speakers located blow the display as opposed to the sides, the overall width of the TV is reduced to better fit inside cabinets and armoires.
A “Vyper Drive” feature reduces the lag time between the game console input and the TV display to imperceptible levels. When users hit the “Game Mode” button on the TV’s remote control, access is provided to the side terminal inputs--positioned for convenient connection to a video game console--and activates Vyper Drive. A subwoofer audio output allows connection to an active subwoofer.
The GP3U has two sets of component inputs and three HDMI version 1.3 inputs, all compatible with 1080p content from Blu-Ray and advanced gaming devices. The LC-32GP3U also supports 1920x1080 HD video at 24 fps played from other compatible video sources; PC connectivity is enabled through the 15-pin D-sub terminal or through the HDMI ports.
Sharp says the GP3U uses their proprietary 4-wavelength backlight system to achieve “deeper, more vivid reds.” It sports a 10,000:1 contrast ratio and has a pixel response time of 6ms. It features a 176-degree viewing angle and a brightness rating of 450 cd/m2. Like all HD AQUOS models, the GP3U comes with built-in ATSC, clear QAM and NTSC tuners. It also. The backlight system is rated for 60,000 viewing hours.
The LC-32GP3U will be available in all three colors in December for $1,600.
