Samsung adds two new 7+ megapixel point-and-shoots to their S-Series, simplifying menus and options for beginners.

Samsung today announced the launch of the 7.2 megapixel S760 and the 8.1 megapixel S860, the newest models in their S-Series. The new models feature a 3x optical zoom, Samsung SHD lens, Digital Image Stabilization and face detection.

Designed with the novice in mind, the two new models feature Function Description, an option that automatically provides a description of each setting when scrolling through the cameras’ menus, helping the user determine which setting is appropriate for their current shooting scenario. They also pack 11 scene modes and a special effects "E" button, which gives users instant access to in-camera editing options like resizing and rotating images, adjusting brightness, contrast and saturation levels, fixing red eye, and manipulating color

Video on the S760 and S860 is shot in either 320x240 or 640x480 resolutions at 30 fps. The cameras are powered by two AA alkaline batteries.

Available in January 2008, the S860 will retail at $180 and the S760 at $170.
