Haier's new portable media player downloads music from Rhapsody "over-the-air" via an integrated Wi-Fi connection.
Haier America today announced the ibiza Rhapsody, a new Wi-Fi-enabled portable media player that connects to the Rhapsody music service without the need for a computer. We checked out the ibiza Rhapsody back in March, and were excited to hear about Haier's plans to team up with AOL and Rhapsody. Through its AOL partnership, the ibiza Rhapsody also provides access to AOL's library of user-generated videos.
The ibiza Rhapsody sports a 2.5" QVGA screen, 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0, FM radio tuner and an USB 2.0 mini-B slot. Podcasts are automatically updated via Wi-Fi through an included free subscription service.
The ibiza Rhapsody ships with a 30-day free trial for Rhapsody. Following the free trial, consumers can select Rhapsody radio channels and 25 free plays a month from Rhapsody or subscribe to Rhapsody To Go ($14.95 a month) for unlimited access.
A 30GB model of the ibiza Rhapsody is available immediately for $330, while 4GB and 8GB versions will be available soon for $230 and $250 respectively.
