Okoro looks to take over your living room with their $1800 base model media center PC, features dual core processors and CableCARD technology.
Okoro Media Systems has released the CX series of media center PCs, their entry-level digital entertainment systems. Each CX model includes HDCP compliant video, Dolby Digital audio, Intel Core 2 Duo processors and an ATI Digital Cable Tuner.
The first model available in the CX line, the OMS-CX100, features a 2.3Ghz Intel E6550 Core 2 Duo Processory, 2 GB RAM at 667MHz, an NVIDIA 8500 GT graphics processor w/HDCP, an ATI Digital Cable Tuner for CableCARD access, 320GB HD Storage, a 16x CD/DVD +-/RW DL burner and comes pre-loaded with Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate. The sizeable box measures in at 17.13" W x 5.94" H x 18.07" D, and comes standard with a vacuum fluorescent display. An optional 7” touchscreen is available, with an optional HDTV transcoder for displaying images in 1080p, although the aspect ratio is a puzzling 15:9, and the benefits of full-HD resolution on a 7” screen are debatable.
Okoro says the system has the capability to record HDTV content as well as play Blu-ray and HD-DVDs, but does not include a high-definition disc drive. Three different kinds of home theater PC software are available; Beyond TV with Beyond Media, SageTV 6.0 and Windows Vista Media Center. Processors can be upgraded to Quad Core Intels and memory is available at speeds up to 800 Mhz.
The CX100 is available now for $1800.
