In addition to the two new Walkman phones, Sony Ericsson today also released a phone aimed at the Web-browsing-youth market. The K660i features special shortcut keys to make surfing easier. Among these, you'll find an aspect ratio shortcut to flip from portrait to landscape easier, as well as improved pan and zoom functions. Not exactly revolutionary, but Sony Ericsson at least appears to have noticed that the browsing experience on most phones these days is less than ideal. The K660i's high-speed, UMTS/HSDPA networking should help, but American Web-browsing-youth shouldn't get too excited, as the phone only supports European radio bands.
For all that panning and zooming Sony Ericsson packs in a 2-inch, QVGA screen. Google Maps comes preloaded, as well. For music fans, this isn't a Walkman-branded phone, so don't expect Sony Ericsson's excellent Walkman player, but the phone still comes equipped with an FM radio, and a 256MB Memory Stick Micro card. A 2-megapixel camera around back will let those crazy kids do all the picture blogging they can handle, with Sony Ericsson's new included software.
The K660i (104 x 47 x 14.7 mm, 95 g), will start selling during Q1 2008. Pricing has yet to be determined, but we're guessing it won't be too expensive, as Sony Ericsson is targeting a younger crowd.
