The T505 uses bluetooth and an FM transmitter to broadcast voice calls and music from Bluetooth-enabled cell phones and mp3 players.
Motorola announced today the MOTOROKR T505, a Bluetooth in-car speakerphone and digital FM transmitter. Motorola's first music-based car accessory for its ROKR phone, the T505 connects compatible Bluetooth phones to the user's car's sound system for hands-free calling and playback of their personal music collection. Motorola plans to unveil the T505 at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show.
Requiring no wires or installation, users clip the device to their car's visor and pair the T505 using Motorola's EasyPair technology to their compatible Bluetooth device. Once connected to a stereo Bluetooth phone, or MP3 player, calls and music are streamed wirelessly to their car's stereo. Users with standard Bluetooth phones can use the T505 to place and receive calls over the car stereo, and when leaving the car, the unit can be easily unhooked and taken to another car.
The T505 uses StationFinder, a technology that tells users which setting on the FM dial is optimal for broadcasting audio from the unit. When receiving calls, the T505 automatically mutes any music playing and audibly announces the Caller-ID, preventing drivers from having to take their eyes off the road. The T505 comes standard with echo and noise-reduction technology, a built-in microphone and 2-watt speaker.
The ROKR T505 is expected to be available in the first quarter of 2008. Pricing has not yet been set.
